Hi, I set up a website a while back with the company name as the domain name which doesn't really reflect what I do. I have since purchased 2 more domain names with better keywords in them, can I just 301 these domain names to my existing website without having to actually create any content in them?

Can you help with the following : As people use the WordPress internal search engine on our site (soundpimp.com), pages are created that occasionally start to outperform - in the Google search results - our well planned website structure of pages. This is obviously not good, however it CAN be good to have these results also as they can help catch customers to our site. But we want such customer to be presented the standard entry that we have planned for them.

How to 301 redirect all such search pages to e.g. the mysitename.com

?

Thanks
Carl

I just wondering I follow your instruction, however, why the only effect is in the homepage. let say I want to move 'mydomain.com/category/filename.htm' it should move to 'www.mydomain.com/category/filename.htm' but it always move to 'mydomain.com'

To use the default setting ( non-www and www ) both, in the free hosting try this:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
rewritecond %{http_host} ^JUSTYOURDMAINNAME\\.net [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.YORDOMAIN.net/$1 [L,R=301]

JUSTYOURDMAINNAME = without .com, .net, etc…. JUST NAME.
YORDOMAIN = full domain name.
I try that with my free hosting and its working great, sorry for my broken english.

Hi,

My client wants me to SEO his site. He provide me the URL http://www.example.com and when I check on it, it is redirecting to http://example.com/ which clearly uses 301 redirects. I check on the backlinks, the
http://www.example.com : 26 backlinks
http://example.com : 0 backlinks

but the SERP for all keywords shows that it rank for non-www version and no result/zero pages for www version. I told my client that I will optimize his site using the non-www version since the site has been indexed with the non-www and the keywords have rank with the non-www.. But he is confused of optimizing the site in the non-www version because of the backlink results. And even ask why the site keywords rank with the non-www if it has zero backlinks. Maybe I wasnt able to explain him approproately..

Please correct me if I am wrong.. Am I correct of optimizing the site with the non-www, right? And what is the appropriate way to explain this to clients.

Additionally, why would google rank the keywords if it has zero backlinks? 10 of his keywords 6 of it shows in page 2, 3 and 4.

I'm confused by all this talk of doing 301 redirects using a .htaccess file, when I seem to be able to do the same thing from the Control Panel of my Domain Registrar's site. What is the difference between doing it in these two radically different ways?
